Once Night Dive gave its blessing, development on System Shock 3 began. Due to an odd copyright issue OtherSide had the rights to make a System Shock sequel for years, but didn't have the rights to use the franchise's name. The title was announced in November 2015 when Night Dive Studios gave OtherSide Entertainment the rights to use the series name.

System Shock 3 is currently in development and has no projected release date. System Shock 3 developer OtherSide Entertainment will retain all rights to the game, as Starbreeze is taking a "distributor-only" role in publishing the title. Starbreeze has announced a $12 million investment in the System Shock 3 project and will be promoting and publishing the title.

The sequel to cult classic sci-fi horror game System Shock 2 is coming to PC and consoles thanks to Starbreeze.
